Heatwave: Inspired by an Australian summer

Introducing Heatwave - inspired by the blazing essence of an Australian summer. Designed for those who live in the sun, Heatwave captures the colours, textures and warmth of sun-lit days by the ocean. From colourful umbrellas, dripping ice creams, the scent of coconut sunscreen carried on warm breezes and waves glinting like liquid glass; we wanted these pieces to remind us of that.
A Summer-Inspired Palette & Unique Handmade Details
With a colour palette and designs inspired by Australian beach style, we wanted the pieces in Heatwave to be styles you can’t wait to pack in your suitcase for a summer holiday, and pieces that will remain timeless for every year to come.
What makes this collection even more meaningful to us is how it’s made - each crochet garment is individually handcrafted by skilled Balinese artisans, both ethically and sustainably. We use 100% cotton with hand-sewn details that celebrate craftsmanship and durability. No two pieces are the same which makes each one special and one-of-a-kind. If it isn't crochet using natural fibres, then we are using recycled fabric to support a more responsible approach to fashion production.
When you think of a hot Australian summer, you want breathable pieces for the ease of slow summer dressing. Pieces that will last through salt, sand and extreme heat.

Behind the scenes: The Heatwave Photoshoot in Yallingup, WA
We knew we wanted to shoot Heatwave in the middle of summer, somewhere that felt familiar and true to the collection. So we loaded up the car with crochet pieces, shell jewellery and camera gear and headed to the South West of WA with Chloe, our photographer, and Gaby, one of our models.
We had planned the shoot around a specific beach in Dunsborough, so the day before we drove down to check it out. But when we got there the conditions were all wrong - windy, rough and rocky. So we made a quick call to head to Yallingup Lagoon next, but it ended up being too crowded (school holidays were not the vibe!). We needed a new location so the two of us went off to scout the coastline and left Chloe and Gaby to enjoy some sunshine.
At this point we were getting a little nervous on where we were going to shoot because the wind direction was limiting our choices. Then we drove to Injidup Beach - and wow it was perfect, third times a charm! Calm water, soft white sand, stairways down to the ocean and quiet spots tucked away between the dunes... to top it off, nobody was there! It was the exact scene we envisioned for Heatwave and we couldn't believe how beautiful it was. Now we just had to hope that it looked the same the next morning.

After settling on the location, we could finally relax so we and we spent the rest of the afternoon swimming, grabbing ice creams and soaking up the last of the sunshine. Funnily enough, it was actually a heatwave whilst we were there so it felt like it was meant to be! After some showers and down time, we went into town for pizza, played some cards and planned for the morning ahead.
We were up bright and early and started the day going for a little walk at sunrise to calm our nerves before meeting up with Chloe and Gaby and grabbing some coffee and banana bread; the essential fuel for a photoshoot. At the beach we met our other beautiful models Lyrica and Neve, and got straight into it with Chloe behind the camera. We seriously lucked out with the weather; the conditions were exactly what we hoped for: sunny, warm and calm blue waters.
Over the next three hours we shot the collection against the natural backdrop - capturing movement in the breeze, textures against the sand, and lots of laughter between outfit changes. There were blown-away umbrellas, dolphins off the coast and ice creams that melted almost as fast as the temperature climbed.
And of course, we finished with a refreshing dip in the ocean - the perfect cooldown after shooting a campaign in a heatwave. We had a 3 hour drive back home after the shoot so we quickly grabbed lunch in Dunsborough and off we went.
